Can I add Coursera certificate in my resume?

Do you have a Coursera certificate? If so, you can now add it to your resume, along with your coursework and grades! With the growing popularity of online courses, more companies are offering opportunities for employees to complete certain classes or degrees. If you are interested in seeing what else is out there, take this opportunity to explore new career paths. Of course there are some restrictions on using these certificates for specific careers, but many students find that applying them can lead to interesting career opportunities.

You’ve finished your Coursera program or course! It’s time to show off your newfound abilities and accomplishments to the rest of the world.

It’s important to remember that a resume is a tool that you can use to show off your unique abilities, skills, and experience as you begin the process of deciding how to best represent them on your resume. It’s not like there’s some kind of rigid pattern you have to find out a way to fit within.

Each component of a resume may be customized to show your best self to a potential employer. You may emphasize your newly acquired talents and show the value you can provide to a company by adding a new certificate, but this is only one phase of the process. You should think about the following while updating your CV in light of your Coursera training:

What have you discovered?

Make a list of the specific skills you acquired through Coursera. In order to assess if you’re a suitable match for the position, recruiters and hiring managers need to know exactly what duties you can execute.

What do you have to be happy about?

There is a learning curve for Coursera courses, and the capacity to persist in the face of difficulties may be quite important. Communicate not only what you’ve accomplished, but the steps you took to get there as well. You can convince employers that you’re the best candidate for the job by demonstrating your drive, work ethic, and perseverance.

What should the reader know first?

Coursera and the individual course or program you’ve finished may or may not be known to employers. Make a list of what you learned, how you learned it, and how you used what you learned so they can assess your learnings and successes. If extra information is needed, provide that information.

Once you’ve decided what you want to say to companies about your Coursera experience, you can choose which sections of your resume are most appropriate for doing so.

How do I Add Coursera certificates to my resume?

Go to the Coursera certificates page and download the certificate(s) you would like to include on your resume. Remove any spaces or special characters before pasting the link into your resume. Note that if you don’t want to include any images, please change the application/pdf file type in the application settings for this certificate.

If you are applying for a job where the employer wants to see the certificates, you can upload your certificate(s) directly to your resume. For example, in our Resume Builder select “Upload Document” in the “Education” section. If you would like to include it in your resume, copy the link of your certificate link (see above) and paste it into the field that says “Choose an existing file on your computer”. Then upload it like normal. If you don’t want to include any images, please change the application/pdf file type in the application settings.

If you’re applying for a job where certificates are not required, you can still include whatever certificates or courses that are most relevant to the position you are applying for. While they may not be requirements by your employer, it’s important to think about how they might help showcase your abilities and accomplishments with both prospective employers and future employers.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to bolster your resume, Coursera is an excellent way to both explore new career options and boost your skills. With the right coursework, you might just find the extra push you need to refine your skillset and land a position with a company that’s perfect for you!
