Scholarship objective
The Industry’s Choice Scholarship program was created to help meet the need for future technicians. There is a growing demand for professional, entry-level technicians and UTI is leading the way to meet this need.
By helping to make education more affordable, the Industry’s Choice scholarship will help eligible, enrolled students who meet the criteria outlined below become part of the transportation industry.
Scholarship Criteria
This scholarship program is available to enrolled students who meet the admissions requirements for Universal Technical Institute, NASCAR Technical Institute, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute or Marine Mechanics Institute. Eligibility will be based on financial need as determined by the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) calculated by the US Dept. of Education as a result of a student completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Scholarship Eligibility
Full eligibility details are listed below.
- Student must be enrolled to begin training in a start date listed below at any UTI (with the exception of the Exton, PA campus), MMI, or NASCAR Technical Institute campus
- Eligibility will be based on the approved FAFSA results sent to the school, called an Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) that is on file for the 2020 or 2021 academic year. An approved ISIR meeting the EFC criteria of 5501 thru 12,000 must be received by the school prior to the application submission.
- A student’s proximity to the campus is a component of this scholarship program and will be based on the address provided at the time the student initially provided their information to the school.
- Student must submit an essay (approximately 50 words) to be considered for the Industry’s Choice Scholarship.
Scholarship Application process
This scholarship program is available starting October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.
Students must complete an application and essay and submit them both to the UTI Scholarship Department.
For all applicants, the final deadline for receipt of this application is posted on the chart provided. All eligible applications will be reviewed by the UTI Scholarship Committee, and all applicants will be notified of scholarship outcome within two (2) weeks of application submittal.
This scholarship is ONLY available to incoming students. Students already attending classes at UTI, MMI or NASCAR Technical Institute are ineligible to apply. Applications may be submitted to the Scholarship Department any time after the applicant’s FAFSA has been completed, but must be submitted by the deadline posted in the chart provided.
Program Disclaimers
The applications received will be reviewed for completeness and accuracy of all information provided. Students who apply and meet all requirements will be considered for this scholarship. Students who apply but are denied a scholarship are eligible to reapply before the deadline for their start date.
All incoming applications will be reviewed for eligibility, and there is no guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded in the next review cycle. Only one award of this scholarship will be given per student. The Industry’s Choice Scholarship is evaluated and awarded using a multi-step review process and eligibility is identified using a predefined grading matrix.
Of those viable applications, the awards will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Students must be enrolled to attend Universal Technical Institute, NASCAR Technical Institute, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, or Motorcycle and Marine Mechanics Institute at the time of application submission.
Scholarships awarded are not transferable to any other person. This scholarship is considered an internal tuition reduction and has no cash value. All internal tuition reductions are pro-rated over the time a student is in school.
If a student chooses not to attend UTI or, after beginning their program chooses to leave for any reason (withdrawal, suspended, terminated), they will forfeit any unused portion of the award.
All scholarships granted through this program can only be used during the initial enrollment; any unutilized funds cannot be applied to a secondary account/enrollment. Such a suspension will not affect awards to students who are awarded a scholarship under this program prior to the suspension date.
